70th Birthday
My sister asked me to make her a couple of cards recently and gave me quite challenging briefs! A 70th birthday card for a friend who likes to ski; cycle; ramble…….. and is going to the Scilly isles shortly.
Obviously I don’t have stamps for all those activities so I printed various images on some card which I cut out and used as a background. Actually, the large background is a map showing Cornwall with the die-cut shape on top of this. I found scrabble tiles to spell her name and age (and put a note inside to say that seventy is only twenty-one in scrabble!) and these I triple embossed to make shiny and then adhered them onto a hanging sign which I’d die-cut from a foil food tray – this swings freely as a sign would. I coloured this with alcohol inks and added a bit of foliage here and there. The flower is cut from silver fabric – a very thick, rather strange piece I had in stock – and again coloured with alcohol ink.

The brief for this – Porsche; Range Rover Evoque; black fluffy cat. These are not very anniversary’ish (nor do I have such stamps – again!) so they were printed out and this time used inside the easel card which I made from pearlescent ivory card.
I used the Grand Ovals to cut the shapes and stamped the front with silver-embossed hearts. a length of white ribbon and a length of silvered ribbon was wrapped around the top layer and then some die-cut hearts (embossed with a script folder) with their initials on top – pity they’re both ‘G’! 
I cut some filigrees from both silver paper and some blue; added the sentiment stamped on blue card (for a little colour) and thought I’d finished. I wasn’t totally happy though so I altered a couple of pink heart stick-pins with silver embossing powder and poked them through the ribbon layers and behind a double bow.
My sister thinks the recipient will cry! I’m assuming just the female part of the couple.
